How We Work

We usually communicate with our clients by telephone and email. Occasionally, we may need to visit you to discuss your needs or gather content, photographs etc. Here is an outline of our approach.

1. Initial discussions
The first step is to have initial discussions about your website needs – usually over the telephone. We will discuss your requirements, discuss any ideas you may have and discuss your preferred domain name. We will also talk about your content. Some clients will have already written their text and identified photographs and graphics for inclusion. Others may need help in this area.

2. Provide an estimate
Having discussed your needs, we will provide you with a detailed estimate. We advise our clients to allow for a 10% contingency as the scope of a project can change during development if you decide to include extra features and functionality.

3. Register a domain name
We will help you select a domain name if you do not already have one.

4. Arrange hosting
We arrange hosting for your website and email addresses if required.

5. Agree a design
We propose a suitable design based on your needs and content. You will be able to review the design online and suggest changes if needed.

6. Build the site
Once the look and feel has been agreed, we will build the site including all your photographs, text and graphics. For us, this is the most time consuming part of the project where we write the computer code that underpins your website. There are usually three releases:

First release
A first build of the site is released for you to look at. We will use your draft content and placeholder text where required. We will ask you to review the site and send us any missing content or text changes.

Second release
A second build of the site is released for you to look at. This will incorporate all your content revisions and comments from the first release. It will also include any missing functionality.

Third release
A final build of the site is released for you to look at. This will incorporate all your content revisions and comments from the second release and any final tweaks to the functionality. Your site will be more or less complete at this stage and will ask for any final content input before launch.

7. Launch site / search engine registration
Once you are satisfied, we will launch the site and submit it to the major search engines such as Google and Yahoo.
